CRISPR-Cas endonucleases directed against foreign nucleic acids mediate prokaryotic adaptive immunity and have been tailored for broad genetic engineering applications. Type VI-D CRISPR systems contain the smallest known family of single effector Cas enzymes, and their signature CRISPR-Cas13d 6E9F ribonuclease employs guide RNAs to cleave matching target RNAs.

Model Description 

Cas13d is colored turquoise and tinted according to the protein’s bFactor, or atomic temperature. Colored yellow is the target RNA and red is the Guide RNA. Biologic model of CRISPR Cas13d 3D printed in full-color sandstone.
