Shapeways partners with Biologic Models to launch new Stratasys J750 Printer

Biologic Models recently partnered with Shapeways and Stratasys to debut their new partnership launching the Stratasys J750 3D printer.

B2B Partnership with Shapeways to Promote the Stratasys J750

Shapeways and Stratasys are working together to bring the potential that the Stratasys J750 3D printer offers to a much wider market. Recently, Shapeways contacted us to see if we would be interested in joining their Beta Program for this new printer. After they had a look at our model submissions for printing, they asked to feature our work at an upcoming press event.

Biologic Models Featured Business at 2018 TCT Show

For the 2018 TCT Show in Birmingham, England, Shapeways announced a new partnership with Stratasys to bring the J750 3D printer to their creators and user community. Biologic Models was asked to participate in their early adopter beta program to test out the 3D printer. We recognized immediately the potential to break open a new frontier in molecular visualization by unlocking the true potential of 3D printed protein data. Proteins often hide their most important structure deep inside the core of the molecule. By layering transparent colored structures ontop of each other, we were able to create a series of multi-colored transparent protein models that bring to life internal anatomy of proteins like CRISPR Cas9, Glycated Hemoglobin HbA1c, Human Insulin Hexamer, and an Anti-PD-1 Antibody.

“J750 is the best of both manufacturing worlds, full-color 3D printing combined with high-quality transparent plastics,” said Steffen, who is also the Director of Operations at Biologic Models. “This is exactly what my customers want. Transparency and color coding are necessary features to create the highest quality and most durable models. The J750 tackles these design and manufacturing challenges head-on.”

The Stratasys J750 can consistently and reliably fabricate parts that feel, look, and operate just like fully finished products. This gets rid of any lengthy assembly, painting, or post-processing requirements, that multi-colored transparent models require.
